Rector appeal

Dear friends and colleagues!

I am happy to greet you on behalf of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, which is the one of the oldest Russian technical universities celebrating its 80 anniversary. Famous by its own traditions, our university had trained more than 180 thousand specialists in energetic for our country and for more than 85 foreign states. During this three fourth of a century MPEI alumni participated in the creation of the largest hydropower plants and in launching of the first piloted space ships, had got the prestigious scientific awards and titles, were included into the political and business elite of the Russian society. Combination of "energy" and "non-energy" academic specialties and scientific directions inside the MPEI ensures the widest spectrum and deepness of the problems solved by our graduates. We see in this the MPEI unique property as a leading technical university of Russia training the universal, easily adopted to the job at any positions as the engineers and experts.

At present, MPEI is not simply the leading Russian university in the field of energetic. We are joining other Russian technical universities training the specialist in energetic into the Open Power Engineering University.

MPEI is the vigorously developing university. We are constantly improving our academic and scientific material resources. Our work on implementing the modern informational technologies into academic and research processes was marked by the high grade: namely the Award of the President of Russian Federation. Organization of the students’ activity on the basis of the modern academic and research equipment allows the preparation of the high-quality specialists actually for all scientific, technology and industrial activity.

The motto mentioned at MPEI emblem is (after translation from the Latin) “Energy is the fundament of all”. Our more than two-thousand’s scientific and pedagogical team is ready to transfer this energy into the arms of new generations of students who will have to pass through MPEI school of thoughts.
