MPEI education has the following levels:

  • Preliminary course
    The Preliminary Language course is offered at MPEI for international students that are willing to study in Russian medium. There are two possible durations of the Preliminary Course – a full year, for autumn and spring semesters, and a half of the year, for spring semester only. The Course can precede the Master level or the Bachelor one. The future Bachelors study Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics and Engineering Drawing, and Masters do only General Russian. The groups consist of 4-11 persons. The study results are validated by the Russian Language examinations.

  • Bachelor course
    Bachelor Course opens the general program of Russian Higher Education at MPEI. The duration of the Course is four years (or eight semesters) and it is conducted in multiple fields of study. Every semester is ended with the examination session and the entire study – with the fulfillment of the Bachelor graduation thesis project. The graduates receive Russian State Bachelor’s Diploma that is required to achieve the Master education level.

  • Master course
    Master course is a second step of the Russian Higher Education that gives Bachelor graduates the opportunity to continue their studies in the chosen field in a deeper way. The duration of the Course is two years (or four semesters). Similarly to the Bachelor Course every semester is ended with the examination session and the entire study – with the fulfillment of the Master graduation thesis project. The graduates receive Russian State Master’s Diploma that is required to achieve the postgraduate education level.

  • Philosophy Doctor stage
    Philosophy Doctor program is a step of postgraduate study program available for Master graduates who want to apply for the researcher education at MPEI. The postgraduates study is conducted in Russian for three or four years depending on the field of study. The education is crowned by the defense of the Ph.D. thesis on the State Scientific Council and in case of success – the awarding of Russian State Diploma of Candidate of Science that is equivalent to the general Ph.D. Diploma.
  • Doctor of Sciences stage
    Doctor of Science title is the last step to make in the career of a researcher and requires the postgraduate status of the Ph.D. It continues for three years and is supposed to be finished with the Dr.Sc. thesis defense on the State Scientific Council. Successful defense grants the Russian State Diploma of Doctor of Science.
