MPEI expands cooperation with universities in Kazakhstan

 ​On May 22, 2025, MPEI welcomed a delegation led by Nurbek Pazharbekovich Saparhozhayev, Rector of the Non-Profit JSC “Rudny Industrial Institute” (Kazakhstan).

The delegation also included university representatives Daganul Sagandykova, Mikhail Shestakov, and Larisa Bozhko.

MPEI was represented by Sergey Shirinsky, Head of External Relations Department, Elena Gulicheva, Director on International Relations, and staff from the Directorate on International Relations.

The program of the visit included a presentation about MPEI, demonstration of the GOELRO museum, the main academic building, and the stand of honorary doctors and professors. Also, guests were given a tour around Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources Institute (IHRE), Electrical Power Engineering Institute (IEPE), including High Voltage Engineering and Electrophysics​ Department (HVEE), the Center of the National Technological Initiative “Technologies of Electric Power Transportation and Distributed Intelligent Energy Systems” (NTI).

The universities explored potential areas for meaningful collaboration.

Particular emphasis was placed on academic mobility and practical cooperation, especially on organizing student exchanges to involve them in projects addressing pressing challenges in the energy sector.

Both parties expressed interest in conducting joint research within project frameworks, coordinating research activities, and sharing results on pre-agreed topics. They also discussed the possibility of organizing scientific internships and professional development programs for faculty members and engineering specialists.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed on their intention to strengthen the partnership, expand cooperation formats in education and research, and implement joint initiatives aimed at training in-demand specialists and addressing pressing challenges in the energy sector.
