Russia-Vietnam summer school at MPEI17.08.2018From 25th of July until 20th of August the Russian-Vietnamese Summer School takes place at MPEI.In frames of summer school MPEI has been visited by a group of Vietnamese scholars from Hoa Binh special secondary school named after Hoang Van Thu. The school has been MPEI partner since 2016. Scholars were greeted by MPEI Vice-Rector on International Relations Alexander E. Tarasov.In the first days of the summer school foreign guests were well-met and offered an entertainment program. The Department of International Relations carried a presentation about the University and organized a few excursions. Scholars took an opportunity of visiting a number of Institutes and Departments of the various specialties. Their first point has been the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering where they were received by the Head of the Institute, Vladimir N. Tulskiy. The Head of the High Voltage Engineering and Electrical Physics Department, Sergey I. Khrenov gave a profound round-up of the educational process of the department and showed the students’ laboratory works to young Vietnamese together with other professors.On the base of MPEI Teen Energy School, Vietnam scholars took the courses that gave them a chance to assemble a light bulb and create a 3D-model by themselves.Vietnamese have also visited a new MPEI study object, a fighter plane Su-27. The Head of the Technical Engineering and Equipment Department of MPEI Mr. Svetlov presented the history and equipment of the fighter.Scholars have been offered some sightseeing as well. Eventually they got acquainted with Moscow and visited the most popular and famous places of the capital, such as Red Square and Alexander Garden, Arbat, VDNH, Christ the Savior Cathedral and wandered in the Sokolniki and Kolomenskoe parks.From the 1st of August scholars have taken everyday classes of Russian at MPEI where they are busy perfecting their knowledge, gaining new friends and finding out much about the Russian life and culture. It is worth saying that MPEI has got a long story of collaboration with the Ministry of education and training, leading universities, scientific organizations and power engineering enterprises of Vietnam. First Vietnamese students arrived to MPEI in 1953. During these years MPEI has prepared more than 500 Bachelors, Masters and Specialists, 120 Doctors of Philosophy and 9 Doctors of Science. Department of International Relations expects the further collaboration with Vietnamese educational and scientific institutes to be extended and relished by the scholars attending MPEI.
