Development of joint programs with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology

International Administration informs that since the 25th of October to the 30th of October, 2016 within the agreement on cooperation between MPEI and MUST Head of Department of International Cooperation Tarasov Alexander visited School of Power Engineering of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). The purpose of the visit was negotiation concerning realization of joint educational programs and participation in the events on recruiting of foreign students for training in National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute".

During the visit to MUST School of Power Engineering a meeting with Director of School Ch. Mangalzhalav, the adviser to Rector L. Gurbazar, the academic secretary of MUST School of Power Engineering B. Bath-Erdene (MPEI alumnus) took place. The main areas of deepening of cooperation between our Universities were also indicated there: the organization of the joint educational training program on Master's program, training of Mongolian Ph.D.-students and masters in MPEI, joint participation in scientific conferences. The main steps were approved to be undertaken to realize the Memorandum of intentions between our Universities on creation of the Russian-Mongolian consortium of technical universities.

According to the results of the work of the Russian Universities delegation the exchange of opinions with the management of MUST School of Power Engineering was performed. The following offers were formulated:

• to continue the cooperation in the field of the project "It is time to study in Russia!";

• to continue more active interaction between Russian and Mongolian Universities to enhance the cooperation on the organization of joint educational programs, and possible creation of network university – the Russian-Mongolian consortium of technical universities, using the experience of SСO University and Russian-Kyrgyz Consortium of Technical Universities (RKCTU).

• to make the approved offers on formation of the list of the areas and specialties, including postgraduate study and training for making the offers on formation of a country quota in 2017-2018 academic year.

The meeting with professor of MUST School of Power Engineering S. Batkhuyag (MPEI alumnus) took place there. The issues concerning the MPEI positioning in Mongolia as the leading Russian University in connection with the 95th anniversary from the date of establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Russian Federation were also discussed.

During the meeting with R. Davaanyam - the senior engineer on technical policy of JSC Ulaanbaatar Electricity Distribution Network - there was the exchange of opinions on improvement of MPEI alumni Association work in Mongolia.

The meeting with the Adviser of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia, Head of representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Ulaanbaatar Mikhaylov E also took place there. During the meeting the issues of MPEI participation in the spring exhibition of Russian education in Russian Centre of Science and Culture and participation of MPEI and Consortium of Russian Universities in the organization of examinations by citizens of Mongolia and compatriots to obtain quotas for training at the Russian Universities for the budget account of the Russian Federation were discussed.

In general the business trip was successful; objectives were performed that allows expecting further deepening of the cooperation between MPEI and Mongolia.​
