Delegation of Vietnam visited MPEI

A delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and a representative of "Rosatom" visited National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute".

The delegation included representatives of SRV Ministry of Education and Staff Training: Fam KuangHyng - Director of the Department of the international training; Nguyen Thi Han - Head of the Department of coordination with students; Lyu Lahm - the deputy of the Head of the project management administrative office on staff training in the field of atomic energy; Fang The Hongg - the chief specialist of the higher education management.

The delegation was accompanied by representatives of SRV Embassy in the Russian Federation: Nguyen TkhiTi Mai - First secretary of SRV Embassy; Nguyen Tkhi Kim Thu - Second secretary on education of SRV Embassy.

"Rosatom" was represented by O. Vinogradovа - Senior Specialist of project office on education quality improvement, international cooperation and project administration.

Cooperation between MPEI and Vietnam started 60 years ago when the first group of the Vietnamese students arrived to MPEI. For all these years MPEI trained over 500 bachelors, masters and experts, 120 candidates of sciences and 9 doctors of science of Vietnam. More than 150 Vietnamese experts passed their training at MPEI. MPEI response was highly appreciated by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: in 1978 MPEI was awarded the "Order of Friendship" and in 2015 - the Award of Labour of the First Degree – the highest SRV award for the foreign organizations.

During the meeting MPEI was represented by Nikolay Rogalev - MPEI Rector; Vladimir Zamolodchikov - Vice Rector on international relations; A. Dedov - director of Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering; S. Shirinsky - Head of International Administration; A. Ankin - Dean of Foreign Students; A. Tarasov - Head of Department of International Relations; V. Manukhin - Deputy Director of Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering; Nguyen Kuok Shi - professor of Dept. of General Physics and Nuclear Fusion.

MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev pronounced his welcome speecha and MPEI prepared the presentation for guests.

During the meeting various questions concerning interaction were discussed. Among them were:

• updating of the training areas at MPEI for Vietnamese students in connection with the termination of construction of the NPP in Vietnam;
• admission for the Vietnamese students from other Universities of Russia at MPEI in the updated training areas;
• joint training of the Vietnamese Ph.D.-students within the project 911 at MPEI.

During the visit the excursion at MPEI for guests was arranged and the interactive roll-up of the "Rosseti" company and the roll-up of MPEI Honorary Doctors were shown.

It was noted that the acting SRV Minister of Education and Training Fung Suan Nya is MPEI Honorary Doctor.

MPEI hopes to develop further effective educational and scientific cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.​​​​
