MPEI is a member of Association of Azerbaijani and Russian universities

Azerbaijani-Russian Inter-University Forum took place from 18.11.2015 to 21.11.2015 in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic). Head of Department of International Relations Alexander Tarasov represented MPEI within the Forum in Azerbaijan Republic. 

Over forty Russian and Azerbaijani Universities participated in the Forum. There were discussed issues of enhancing cooperation between Universities of two countries. On 20.11.2015 there took place the ceremony of signing of the Memorandum on Association of Azerbaijani and Russian universities foundation. Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Republic and Minister of Education and Science of Russian Federation made a speech at the ceremony. Rector of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University and Rector of Sumqayit State University are approved as cochairmen of the Association.

Hundreds Azerbaijani students were sent to MPEI for training at the time of the Soviet Union. Many of them successfully worked and continue working in various branches of the national economy of Azerbaijan. MPEI Honourable Doctor Ali Abbasov is MPEI alumni who until recently headed Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic. Azerbaijan Technical University Rector Akif Suleymanov graduated from MPEI as well. 

In recent years cooperation between MPEI and Azerbaijan became more active. In December, 2014 delegation from MPEI headed by Rector took part in work of international telecommunication exhibition Bakutel-2014. Delegation of Azerbaijan Republic took part in anniversary events concerning the 85 anniversary of MPEI. 

Interuniversity communications has become more active. In 2014 there was signed the contract on cooperation with Azerbaijan Technical University. In the autumn, 2015 MPEI delegation took part in the International Scientific Conference that took place on its base "International engineering workshop 2015 " Energy efficiency and energy supply". 

Rector of the University emphasized the interest in enhancing of multilateral cooperation with MPEI. 

During meetings with Akif Suleymanov - Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University - there were reached arrangements on conclusion of the contract on cooperation between our Universities. 

Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry Moustapha Babanly expressed high interest in bilateral cooperation.

During work of the Forum there was made a decision to perform it on regular basis. Next year the Forum will be organized in Russia on the basis of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University. 

Thus, participation MPEI in Azerbaijani-Russian inter-university Forum and the accession to the Association of Azerbaijani and Russian universities stimulated development of inter-university communications at qualitatively higher level.
