The delegation of the Free State of Thuringia (Germany) headed by Minister of Economics, Science and Digital Society Wolfgang Tiefensee has visited MPEI

On the 18.04.2016 the delegation from the Free State of Thuringia (Germany) headed by Minister of Economics, Science and Digital Society Wolfgang Tiefensee has been hospitably met by Rector of MPEI Nikolay D. Rogalev, Vice-Rector on International Relations Vladimir N. Zamolodchikov and Head of joint educational program "MPEI – TU Ilmenau", prof. Igor N. Zhelbakov.

The German delegation included representatives of Landtag of the Free State of Thuringia, Embassy of Germany in Russia, Rector and Vice-Rector of TU Ilmenau, Chief Representative of DAAD Dr. Peter Hiller, staff of the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society of the Free State of Thuringia and coordinators of the joint program from TU Ilmenau.

From MPEI part there were also Vice-Rector on studying process V. Grechikhin, Head of International Administration Sergei Shirinskii, Deputy Head of Department of International Relations E. Gulicheva.

During the visit there took place a general meeting where Rector of MPEI Nikolay D. Rogalev, Minister of Economics, Science and Digital Society Wolfgang Tiefensee and Rector of TU Ilmenau P. Sharff presented welcome speeches.

Professor Igor N. Zhelbakov made a presentation about MPEI and German Engineering Faculty “MPEI-TU Ilmenau”.

In 1997 MPEI together with Technical​ University of Ilmenau (Germany) started the implementation of the additional educational program on "Informatics and Computer Science" in German language that in 2007 was transformed to German Engineering Faculty “MPEI-TU Ilmenau”. Financing of the program was undertaken by DAAD, the Ministry of the Free State of Thuringia, the union of funds of German science and Siemens. During the program about 600 MPEI students of the most different specialties have taken part in it.

Then within the meeting the performance of one of the first alumni of the joint program A. Slavyanov took place. Also the meeting was attended by an alumnus of MPEI and TU Ilmenau Yulia Onishchenko.

During the meeting there took place the rewarding ceremony. Rector of TU Ilmenau Peter SCHARFF, Doctor Axel Klaus-Dieter FRITZ and Frau Gudrun Evelyn MATTHIES were awarded with MPEI Memorable signs.

The DAAD lecturer Senta DRYUEKE and coordinator of the joint program, associate professor of Information-Measuring Technique Department E. Dolgacheva received MPEI Honorary Certificates.

During the meeting the signing of the memorandum between MPEI, TU Ilmenau and Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society of the Free State of Thuringia was signed.

This document is aimed to the development of partnership between National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" with Technical University of Ilmenau and at support of the Free State of Thuringia and to extension of the SPITSE project.

The SPITSE project is aimed to the development of sensor systems and networks, it has been realized since 2013. This project became the result of strategic partnership between three Universities - MPEI, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University 'LETI' and the German TU Ilmenau.
