Chinese representatives visited MPEI

June 14, 2023, representatives of Tsinghua University (China), headed by Mr. Jiang Peixue, Vice-Rector for Science of Tsinghua University, MPEI alumnus and Honorary Professor, visited our university.

On the Chinese side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Wang Hui, Deputy Dean for International Relations of Tsinghua University and Ms. Liu Wei, Secretary General of the Russian Research Institute of Tsinghua University.

On MPEI part, the meeting was attended by Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, Alexander Tarasov, Vice Rector on International Relations, Elena Gulicheva, Director on International Relations, Alexey Dedov, Director of Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering, Yuri Kuzma-Kichta, Professor of Department of Engineering Thermophysics, Alexander Komov, Professor of Department of General Physics and Nuclear Fusion, Vadim Prokhorov, Professor of Department of Thermal Power Plants.

The visit included a tour of the Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering (ITNPE), the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy (IHRE), the SC “Wear Resistance” and the GOELRO Museum. The meeting was held with ITNPE faculty members where Professor Jiang Peixue studied.

During the conversation held after the tour, both parties discussed topical issues of further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Chinese relations, aspects of scientific and educational cooperation in training specialists for the energy sector and joint activities as part of the "MPEI-Hainan" joint university project.

Tsinghua University is one of the leading universities in China, founded in 1911. More than 300 research institutes and a number of national laboratories belong to Tsinghua University. A primary focus is on artificial intelligence and quantum technology research units.

Among the university's 170,000 alumni there are many remarkable scientists, artists and politicians, and Nobel laureates in physics.

The Institute for Sino-Russian Cooperation operates within the university, implementing joint innovation projects with a number of Russian universities, Rosneft PJSC, Gazprom Neft, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and other Russian partners on a regular basis.
