MPEI Cuban delegation visited Mosenergo History Museum

June 29, 2023 MPEI delegation visited the Mosenergo Development Museum, located at the TTP-20 in the south-west of Moscow, which is also an educational platform for pupils, students, power engineers and a meeting place for the veterans of the energy industry.

The delegation consisted of university personnel and students from the Republic of Cuba. The tour was organized by the Director on Integration Policy Development with the support of the Electrical Power Engineering Institute.

Elena Kosheleva, Museum Director, spoke about the history of the Museum's creation, development and formation, as well as the different stages of collecting archival materials and exhibits.

The delegates learnt about the history of Mosenergo and modern technologies of power and heat generation, how a modern thermal power plant is built, they could see Siemens insulators of the late XIX century, Yablochkov candle, Lodygin light bulb and other rarities.

The foreign guests were most impressed with a model of Mosenergo's TPP-26, which was commissioned in 1979.

In 2011 at the TPP-26 the construction of a new CCGT-420 combined cycle unit was completed. I had electric capacity of 420.9 megawatts and a condensing efficiency factor of up to 59 percent. This is a record for the Russian energy industry and one of the best in the world.

At TPP-26 an automated environmental monitoring system is implemented. To reduce nitrogen oxide emissions the station's power boilers are equipped with smoke exhausters. There is two-stage fuel combustion.

Noise mufflers are installed on the boilers of the plant, and water is supplied from the onshore pumping station via a 13.5 kilometer long industrial duct.

It was important for us to visit this museum, as its development history is of professional interest to us. Thank you MPEI for this opportunity", shared his impression Senor Palmero Aguilar Misbel, Cuban intern, General Director of TPP Antonio Guiteras of the Republic of Cuba.

At the end of the meeting the guests were given memorable souvenirs and a book published for the 100th anniversary of the GOELRO plan, which tells about facts, events and people directly related to the unified plan of the national economy development based on electrification of the country.
