National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" takes active part in projects of Department of Education of Moscow

​National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" takes active part in professional orientated projects of Department of Education of Moscow for school children "Engineering class" and "University Saturdays".

In 2015/2016 academic year within the "University Saturdays" project there took place 21 meetings with school children as lectures, workshops, round tables and practical exercise lessons in the base of various Departments and divisions of our University. Over 500 people visited the events at MPEI: 6th-11th graders, professors and parents.

The "University Saturdays" 2015/16 cycle has adjourned traditionally by the round table on the subject «National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" international students' educational programs» and the workshop on speed cubing that is the landmark of our University.

The master of ceremonies was I. Zhelbakov - Director of International Programs Center. The event was organized as an informal conversation in the reception room for the international delegations of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" International Administration where school children have been given the idea on the academic mobility programs that are realized at the moment with foreign Universities partners in particular the programs of two diplomas, students' exchanges and various competitions.

In conclusion of the meeting Ph.D.- student of Dept. of economics in power engineering and industry E. Gulicheva has held a workshop on application for participation in competitions to get fellowship for training abroad and on features of permanent residence in Europe as a foreign student.

During the workshop on speed cubing there has been performed the skill of solving of the known Hungarian puzzle and its analogs by classical method, by one hand, blindly and by legs. For the first time for general consumption, the pupil of lycee No. 1502 under MPEI A. Ivanov has shown simultaneous solving of three cubes blindfold. In the final part, all guests could learn how to solve Rubik's cube by the technique for beginners or advanced Friedrich method irrespective of their abilities.

Within the "Engineering Class" program in 2016 National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" organizes a cycle of events for school children and professors of Moscow:

• Laboratory works based on MPEI;
• Project activities (research projects on the MPEI laboratory facilities under the supervision of Head of the University);
• Excursions for school children at the enterprises partners;
• The expert opinion concerning the city conference "Engineers of the Future" and the conference "Potential" in the base of the lycee No. 1502 under MPEI;
• Workshops for professors of physics.

Within the city scientific and practical conference for school children "Engineers of the Future" National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute"  held 3 open workshops together with the lycee No. 1502 under MPEI. Within the framework the registered 8th-11th grades could get acquainted with the electric equipment installation process on the professional mount JuniorSkills (the professor of extended education of the lycee No. 1502 under MPEI I. Savchenko), assembly flotation and programming of pneumatic robotic stations Festo (assistant D. Shilin) and different puzzles solving techniques (deputy of Vice Rector A. Kondrat).

13 professors of our University worked in advisory committees of all sections of the conference, starting with applied mathematics and physics till mechanical engineering, instrument engineering, robotics technology, power engineering, microelectronics, radio engineering, architecture and design.

National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute» leading experts in the area of energy efficiency prepared and gave lecture on professional identity for children during plenary session of the conference.

At the moment 30 children from 7 schools of Moscow perform the individual projects in the base of Departments of 4 MPEI Institutes to present them at the conference "Engineers of the Future" in 2017.
