Opening Ceremony
Solemn ceremony of opening the Summer Camp was held on the next day after arrival to Xi’an Jiaotong University. The visitors had put on their brand new t-shirts and gathered at the conference hall. After the perfectly well English spoken keynote speech of Wang Shuguo, Rector of the University, the guests put their signatures and wishes on the big banner of the University. Then representatives of every University made the reports and presentations on their universities, having agreed about the importance of mutual cooperation.

What do you know about China?
Before the trip, I had known that there were delicious tea, beautiful temples and a long wall. Indeed, it all has been there. Besides, we did dive in the atmosphere of the Xi’an city, taste, meet and see that life inside.
Xi’an is a historical capital of China and many students arrive to the city to see the Terracotta Army, famous wall and national museum.
What do I personally know about China now?
That I will always remember my trip there. Thanks to Xi’an Jiaotong University, that treated us warmly and organized a marvelous program, and to MPEI for giving us the brightest opportunity of the visit.
Campus
We were living in the territory of the campus at the international hostel. There were students from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia studying at MPEI, RUDN, BMSTU and MGIMO. Together we used to spend our evenings, sometimes singing and playing ukulele.

From the 14th until the 23rd of July I was having my internship at Xi’an Jiaotong University along with my fellow MPEI students.
The goal of our trip was to study Chinese and get acquainted with the culture of ancient and contemporary China.
Eventually we have reached it. We have visited all the sites of Xi’an, the oldest city of China, its 8th World Wonder called the “Terracotta Army”, tried calligraphy and painting. It is not by coincidence that the School is called “Silk Road Summer Camp”. It is in fact an international school that unites many Universities from different countries, Pakistan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Italy and the USA. We all were fond of each other, sharing moments and impressions.
I highly recommend this program to all students who want to have massive impressions and useful knowledge.
Educational program
Our study plan consisted of the Chinese language basics, calligraphy and painting. Moreover, we were given general lectures about China and creation of the Silk Road, culture and art of China. As well, we had the opportunity to visit up-to-date state laboratories, medical facilities where we were shown the use and the potential of 3D printing. There also was a presentation about the modern alternative and renewable energy sources, and a tour to a vast solar energy battery field.
Upon completion of the training, all the participants were handed certificates of international standard.

I have got plenty of emotions from my trip to China.
Exotics leave a lasting impression from the very first moment: noise in the streets, chaotic traffic, spicy food, unusual fruits, almost tropical heat. But, anyway Xi’an Jiaotong has welcomed us sincerely and offered us an amazing program containing studies, sightseeing and sports.
I have been especially impressed by the Calligraphy and the Chinese language lessons with native Chinese. I was also amazed by heritage sites of China, Terracotta Army of the First Emperor, which is treated like the 8th World Wonder for a reason.
For a short time all of the Summer School participants - students, teachers, and volunteers - all had become a big international family, spelling and dispelling our countries’ myths, traditions and customs.
I wish to express my gratitude to MPEI and Xi’an Jiaotong University for the granted opportunity and unforgettable memories.
Entertainment program
Our entertainment was quite vast. We have visited the Terracotta Army, city walls of Xi'an, Beilin and Shuyuanmen, Shanxi History Museum, inspected the Muslim street, Clock and Drum towers and even Wild Goose pagodas with magnificent singing fountains. Besides, we managed to attend a tea ceremony and visit the Chinese opera.

I am very glad and thankful to our University for granting us the opportunity to visit China! We discovered Xi’an, scientific labs of XJTU, studied Chinese, found new friends and have personally grown. The trip has filled us with positive impressions for the rest of my life!

Xi'an Transport University is a key national university in China and is a comprehensive science-oriented university that offers programs in nine fields: science, technology, medicine, economics, management, literature and art, law, philosophy and education.
In the framework of the development of international relations between MPEI and Xi'an Jiaotong University, a visit of the joint delegation of employees and students of MPEI took place from 14 July 2017 until 23 July 2017.
In frames of the visit, the meeting was organized, involving representatives of MPEI and Professor Li Shengtao, who studies the processes of conducting insulating materials in extreme conditions. Professor Li Shengtao is currently a member of the editorial board of the students’ newspaper. During the meeting, Professor Li Shengtao expressed his interest in continuing fruitful cooperation with MPEI in the framework of joint scientific developments and publications.
During a visit to Xi’an Jiaotong University, MPEI delegation visited student campus, academic buildings, scientific and technical laboratories and a sports complex which includes a 50-meter swimming pool.
Overall, the work of the joint delegation of staff and students contributed well to the establishment of closer contacts between MPEI and Xi'an Jiaotong University.

Summer school of Xi’an Jiaotong University is a great event that gathers people from different places under the Aegis of global project “New Silk Road”. In course of our 10-day visit we managed to indulge in the Modern China atmosphere, opened for new, remembering the past.
I am also very thankful to the students and volunteers of XJTU for their marvelous job and to the participants for a great time we had had there.
