Meeting of technical committee No. 9 of the International Electrotechnical Commission in China

Now the Russian Federation is an active participant on development of the international level standards.

Lately, since the 18th of October to the 20th of October in Chengdu of People's Republic of China a regular meeting of technical committee No. 9 of the International Electrotechnical Commission has taken place. There were more than 50 representatives of different world countries: Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain, Japan, China and others. Concerning the issue of development of the standard on contact cable for trolley systems Russia was represented by the expert from National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute", Deputy Director of MPEI branch in Volzhsk Vasily Kuryanov and the expert and leading researcher of Railway Research Institute Nikolay Mironos. 

During the regular meeting there were made the reports by TC-9 Heads about stages of development of the most different standards. Colleagues from Germany reported about accomplishment of development of the standard on a contact cable where there is current-collecting in case of high-speed trains movement. For 4 years experts from 10 countries worked on this standard. In the annual statement the Russian delegation told about continuation of work on creation of the standard on a contact cable for trolley systems.

The expert of TС-9 Vasily Kuryanov emphasized: "A process of the standard development is hard work. Since on the standard forming it is necessary to consider specific features of an equipment design in each country-participant of the project, the key point here is coordination between all developmental engineers".

Traditionally during the reporting meeting there were clarified plans for next year and the venue of the next TC-9 meeting. The regular meeting of work group leaders of TC-9 IEC committee will take place in May, 2017 in the hero town Volgograd that will have a positive impact on image of all Southern Region. The main meeting will take place since the 10th of May to the 12th of May in the Center of the IEC International Standard Developments in the Volgograd Region – in the branch MPEI in Volzhsk.

During the trip delegates visited Southwest Jiaotong University that performs developments in the sphere of road transport mechanical engineering and railway machinery. MPEI branch in Volzhsk actively interacts with foreign Universities in the sphere of the international training of the Russian students. The Russian delegation and the colleague of Technical University discussed issues concerning the experience exchange in scientific approaches and they reached accords on the cooperation.
