The events of preliminary round of the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!" took place in Zambia under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo

Since 01.12.2015 to 04.12.2015 in Lusaka (the capital of Zambia) there took place a cycle of events within the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!" 

Rossotrudnichestvo is the initiator and the main institutor of the project "It is time to study in Russia!" Under its auspices there was found an organizing committee consisted of Russian Universities. The project is realized in close interaction with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Except Zambia, last year the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!" took place in 13 countries, four countries of Africa are among them: Namibia, Angola, Ethiopia and Kenya.

On 01.12.2015 representatives of the Russian Universities took part in interview of the program "The breakfast show" on the Central Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) channel. The twenty-minute part of the program was completely devoted to the Academic Competition where the host Mr. Chris Kandaba, showed a great interest to the initiative of the Academic Competition and education in Russia in general. TV program enjoys wide popularity in Zambia, number of TV viewers are about 3.5 million. During the show detailed information on performing the Academic Competition, features of training in Russia, advantages of studying and favorable situation for foreign students in the Russian Universities were discussed.

On 01.12.2015 there took place a meeting with Kozhanov Konstantin - Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Zambia. The Ambassador noted importance of the Academic Competition in development of diplomatic relationship between Russia and Zambia and he expressed readiness to support the events further. 

Besides, there took place a meeting with representatives of scholarship fund of Zambia at the Ministry of Education - the secretary Ayrin Chirva and the employee of the fund Edith Samboko. 

On 02.12.2015 within the preliminary round of the Academic Competition there took place the main event - a test on mathematics in RCSC library hall in Zambia. Besides, all participants of the events received the reference books "It is time to study in Russia!" in English, containing information on Rossotrudnichestvo, Russian Center of Science and Culture in Lusaka and seven Russian Universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk, including MPEI. 

More than 250 alumni took part in the events.

RCSC employees noted that recently interest of youth in Zambia in education in Russia both at the scholarship support and on the contract basis considerably grew. 

On 03.12.2015 there took place the interview on Phoenix radio station that is the first commercial and most popular station of the country. The program was devoted to the Russian culture and the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia". Especially it should be noted that employees of RCSC in Zambia rendered the invaluable help in the organization and performing the Academic Competition and the organization of the meeting.
