New joint educational projects with universities of Armenia

Since 02.03.2016 to 05.03.2016 Alexander Tarasov, Head of Department of International Relations visited the Republic of Armenia.

The purpose of the visit were negotiations on the organization of joint educational programs with Universities of the Republic of Armenia and coordination of the activity plan on recruiting of foreign students for training in MPEI.

On the 3rd of March there took place meetings in the National Polytechnic University of Armenia where Vice-Rector on educational programs and academic communications M. Baghdasaryan, Vice-Rector on International Cooperation and educational reforms R. Aghgashyan, Chair of Thermal Engineering and Environment Protection Department M. Ghazaryan, Coordinator of the Armenian National Engineering Laboratories (ANEL) A. Mkhitatyan and management of Power Engineering institute participated. During the meetings there took place an exchange of opinions concerning the possibility to organize joint educational programs in different areas of Master's program, including electrical energy industry, thermal engineering, nuclear power engineering.

In the same day there took place a meeting with leaders of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan. During the discussion of the organization of selection of candidates from Armenia for training in Russian Universities with Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture M. Kalinin and Head of Marketing Department of educational programs P. Eremenko, there were considered prime steps on broader representation of MPEI in the Republic of Armenia. In particular, participate more actively in placement of information about MPEI in RCSC and the events held by RCSC for promoting of Russian education was offered.

On the 04.03.2016 there took place a meeting in Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The Vice-Rector on scientific work Avetisyan P.S. has emphasized deep interest in creation of joint educational programs within  bachelor and master's programs. The following profiles within the Power Engineering Industry and Thermal Engineering areas are of special interest: power of heat technology; optimization of structures, parameters and modes of power supply systems; power plants and substations. Work on creation of similar joint educational programs has begun in 2014 when there has been signed a protocol according to the results of the meeting between representatives of RAU and MPEI. After that the realization of these joint educational programs has been brought in RAU development program. There has been made the decision to speed up work in this area. The organization of exchange programs between students of our Universities is also of interest to participate in scientific conferences and short-term training.

In the same day there was a meeting in the Yerevan State University. Following the results of the meeting with Vice-Rector and Head of Department of the International Cooperation A. Markarov there has been reached the agreement to start the work on signing of the contract on cooperation between our Universities and, further, the contract on realization of the joint educational program in the Nuclear Power Engineering area. The dean of Physics Faculty and the manager of Nuclear Physics Department have confirmed their interests in realization of this program. During the visit to Nuclear Physics Department, the manager A. Balabekyan has confirmed interest in the similar joint program.
