Irina Sazonova, Irina Sazonova, a leading specialist
of the Department on International Relations, a Ph.D.-student of the Department
of management in Power Engineering and Industry in the Engineering-Economic
Institute (EEI), shared her impressions about studying in the Beijing Institute
of Technology in the two-week winter school.
“Before the trip, a WeChat conversation was organized
for the participants of the program. I got acquainted with some Russian guys,
and what a pleasant surprise it was to discover that we were on the same flight
with three girls! Already, on the plane, we talked, admired the excellent
service of Hainan Airlines and shared our expectations from the trip.
On the arrival day, a volunteer met us and together
with the bus driver, took us to the hotel where he helped us check in and told
us how to fill the student’s card to pay for meals in the dining room.
The opening ceremony was held on the first study day:
We got acquainted with the history of the university, the campus area,
bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate programs, as well as summer schools.
Chinese language classes were conducted using a communicative teaching
methodology, namely, we practiced phrases on topic, for example, “food”, and
could build small dialogues.
We got acquainted with the guys who have been studying
in the BIT for more than six months. They helped us buy a SIM card, showed us
the city and told us about the ARS – the Association of Russian Students in
Russia. In my opinion, it is definitely worth joining such a team, because the
guys not only help to adapt to a new environment, but also organize various
interesting events.
Social life in the BIT is really full swing. Every day
we talked, walked around the campus and in the city, tried Chinese food (I
especially recommend going to Hot Pot), rode bicycles. We had also a cultural
program that included a visit to the Forbidden City, Summer Garden, the Great
Wall of China, a kung fu class, a calligraphy lesson and other skill classes.
At the closing ceremony, the office of international
students of the BIT solemnly presented certificates to all participants of the
program and showed us a touching video with our participation made during the
entire training period.
I am happy with my trip and grateful to my superiors
and colleagues for organizing it."
