Extension of cooperation with Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany

On the 25th -26th of May, 2017 at National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” a visit of the delegation of Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany (BTU) took place. The delegation included Head of the international Master's program in Power Engineering and Head of Dept. of power distribution and high-voltage engineering (EnergieverteilungundHochspannungstechnik), professor, Dr.Sci.Tech., Garald Schwartz. The purpose of this visit was a final agreement concerning the double diploma program for MPEI students, who are trained according to the master programs "Effective Heat Power Systems of the Enterprises and Housing and Communal Services", "Power supply of the enterprises. Heat-mass-exchange processes and installations" and "Sustainable Thermal and Energy Systems", and BTU students, who are trained according to the master program "Power Engineering".

In frames of the visit the meeting with representatives of Department of International Relations of MPEI was arranged. The representatives of MPEI were: Igor Zhelbakov - Director of MPEI Center of international programs, Natalia Savchenkova - Head of Department of Ph.D.-students and Trainees, N. Kuleshov - chair of Dept. of Chemistry and Electric-Chemical Energetic, A. Garyaev - chair of Dept. of Heat-and-Mass Exchange Processes and Installations, E. Zhigulina - associate professor of Dept. of Industrial Heat Engineering Systems. The Russian representatives presented main areas of MPEI international activity and prof. Schwartz made the presentation about the Smart Capital Region project that he headed.

The guests visited the laboratories of Dept. of Industrial Heat Engineering Systems and Dept. of Heat-and-Mass Exchange Processes and Installations, and the Lefortovo scientific testing ground where BTU delegation saw the newest developments made by research associates of MPEI scientific centre "Wear resistance".

In general, all parties were satisfied with the held negotiations. The main result was the arrangement on signing of the agreement concerning the double diploma program by heads of both parties and on the beginning of project implementation in 2018.​​​
