Second week of project for creation of resource centers of Russian education abroad. Opening of winter school

The second week of study finished successfully in the framework of creation of Russian education resource centers abroad according to the federal project “Education export”. MPEI teachers conducted classes for students in four sections of Physics: "Mechanics", "Electrical phenomena", "Magnetic phenomena" and "Molecular-kinetic theory".

In general, the classes in the course of Physics have already comprised 185 students of 6 countries! They pay attention to courses, ask questions, think over the problems and reply to questions of teachers.

On Tuesday, December 1, in class of the “Mechanics” section, Maksim Silaev, Ph.D., senior lecturer of the Departments of Theoretical Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Electric Power Systems, spoke to students of the Dynamics problems. They understood the issues of the movement of bodies under the forces and studied the Newton laws.

On Wednesday, December 2, Vladimir Korolev, assistant of the Department of Theoretical Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, gave students the notions of electric field, dielectrics and potential.

On Thursday, December 3, the classes on “Magnetic phenomena” were conducted by Oleg Orlov, teacher of the Department of Electric Power Systems. Students learned about the types of electric current, Ampere’s law, Lorentz force, and the principles for work of electric motors.

On Friday, December 4, the class of the “Molecular-kinetic theory” course was given to students by Viktoria Anoshina, teacher of “Young Power Engineer” school. There, the students figured out the concept of thermal equilibrium, methods of measuring temperature, derived an equation to determine the mean square velocity of molecules and in the experiment they saw that it is quite possible to calculate the speed of molecules.

On the weekend, 5-6 December, the Winter school for resource center students started, for which 140 ones from 4 partner countries registered, with others coming along soon. The program anticipates active participation of students in solving engineering problems, carrying out experiments and acquiring technical skills. The school started with the Open Doors Day at MPEI, where students could see the University and discover it for themselves in different educational programs, specialties and prospects.

On that very day students were given their first lesson upon the topic of experimental research in environment and received some information about the program awaiting them in the coming weeks.​​
