MPEI took part in Vienna Energy Security Dialogue Global Forum24.10.202122 October 2021, MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev and Vladimir Kindra, senior professor of the Institute for Energy Efficiency and Hydrogen Technologies, were MPEI delegates to Vienna Energy Security Dialogue. This event, the former Vienna Energy Strategy Dialogue, was founded in 2018 and since then has become one of the main forums for discussing energy issues. Annually, the Forum unites the members of governmental and non-commercial organizations, scientists-experts, representatives of business and young professionals of the power branch. This year the main agenda of the event was to develop an efficient strategy of power supply in the post-Сovid rebuilding of the world economy. The forum was carried out in a hybrid format in English language. The organizers of the forum were the World Energy Council, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Ernst & Young and the Federation of Austrian Industry. Ten speakers reported on the influence of the pandemic on the power security, power supply and the role of power markets in the decarbonization process. During the panel discussion on the topic "The role of energy markets in bridging the emissions gap", speakers made reports in several fields. Professor Stanislav Zhiznin, president of the Center of Energy Diplomacy and Geopolitics, spoke on market and non-market regulators of the low-carbon power industry in Russia and abroad. Doctor Jürgen Schneider, CEO of Directorate-General VI (Climate Action and Energy) of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Change, Member of the Board of the World Energy Council, Austria, reported on the strategies and mechanisms for internationalization of the carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, their taxing and quota trading system. This topic had been highlighted by several other reports of German experts. MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev spoke on the role of energy markets in the bridging the emissions gap in emissions, touching the issues of prognozing the tendencies of the technological and organizational development of the power branches for the sake of economic efficiency and security of the fuel and energy supply for countries and regions of the world, taking into account the implementation of new types of energy technologies and energy carriers, long-term prognosis of the energy markets behaviour: oil, gas and coal ones.
