MPEI is Working Group member for selection of foreign students from Mongolia02.04.20231 April, 2023 the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia (the Russian House in Ulaanbaatar) remotely organized a meeting of the Working Group for the selection of foreign nationals from Mongolia to study in Russia. The meeting summarized the results of the first selection of applicants. The working group consisted of 48 experts from 20 leading universities in Russia, as well as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, the Russian Embassy in Mongolia, the gas pipeline "Union-Vostok" and Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Mongolia. On behalf of MPEI, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations and the staff of the International Relations Department took part in the meeting. In 2023, more than 1,000 Mongolian school graduates have competed to study in Russia. Mongolian youth are competing for the right to study for free at the best universities in Russia. For Mongolia in 2023, 620 quotas were allocated (+20 compared to 2022), the acceptance of applications ended on March 20. According to the results of the first selection and after checking the competitive portfolio of a thousand applicants, 750 people were admitted. There were interviews with candidates wishing to study in Russia on master's program, on PhD program, in residency, to receive continuing professional education. For candidates planning to study at creative universities in-person tests were held. This year, members of the competition committee have noted an increasing level of knowledge of Mongolian graduates and good portfolios that demonstrate applicants’ achievements. Traditionally, medical universities (102 applicants) are the most popular among Mongolian students followed by economic universities (76 applicants) and legal education (61 applicants). Among 750 applicants for education in Russia girls are in the lead - 414 people while young men - 336. For the first time among the Mongolian contestants there are applicants of very young and mature age: a 12-year-old schoolgirl who applied to study ballet at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg Russia and a 60 years old candidate wishing to become a political scientist in Russia. The result of each competitor is made up of: the final score of the educational documents competition; the final score of the competition of individual achievements; the final score for the interview (for candidates for PhD, master's, residency, continuing professional education and for creative fields).
