The heads of the power engineering enterprises of Cuba have been trained at MPEI13.07.2023The ceremonial presentation of certificates of professional internship successful completion was held for the heads of the power engineering enterprises of the Electric Union (Union Electrica) of the Republic of Cuba at the “National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” on July 12, 2023. Alexander Tarasov, the Vice-Rector on international relations with Anastasia Mashkova, the Director of Integration Policy Development handed over certificates. Training of the specialists on internship programs took place in different educational programs at the departments of “Electrical Power Engineering systems”, “Thermal Power Plants” and “Hydropower and Renewable energy sources”. The professional internship became a unique possibility for Cuban leaders to get acquainted with advanced technologies and innovations in the power engineering industry, as well as to exchange experience with MPEI experts. For several weeks, Cuban interns studied the latest industry technologies implemented by MPEI specialists, had opportunity to participate in research and projects, attended practical classes on the management and operation of power plants, and also got acquainted with the work of scientific laboratories, an experimental plant, with the largest library in the country in power engineering field and a test area on renewable energy. Educational visits to the strategic production facilities of the Russian power engineering industry, as well as excursions along popular cultural and historical routes of Moscow were organized as part of internships for guests from Cuba. During the visits, a group of interns visited PJSC Rosseti: PS Tyutchevo and Pushkin RES, the museum of PJSC Mosenergo, GDTC Rumyantsevo and the central office of JSC SO UES. The companies are strategic partners of MPEI. "We are very grateful for the warm welcome and the rich educational program organized for us by the staff of the MPEI. The innovative and advanced skills and experience that we gained during our internship in Russia will certainly have a positive impact on the development of the Cuban energy system," Delice Moreno Garcia, CEO of the INEL (Cuba) Electricity Engineering and Design Company, an intern at the Department of HRE, shared. Internship programs are implemented within the quotas allocated annually by the Government of the Russian Federation for the training of foreign citizens, in particular from the Republic of Cuba. The number of candidates of the Republic of Cuba for a professional internship in the next 2023-2024 academic year will be more than 15 persons. Currently, within the educational cooperation of MPEI and the Energy Union of Cuba (UNE), 30 leading specialists and managers of the power engineering industry of the Republic of Cuba are trained at MPEI in master and PhD degree programs, additional professional education in the field of electrical and thermal power engineering, power engineering, computer science and renewable energy sources.
