Summary

 

The Department conducts classes to students of all study fields at MPEI in the following disciplines: "History (Russian History, General History)", "Cultural Studies", "World Civilizations and World Cultures", carries out research work on burning issues of humanitarisation of engineering education and the usage of information and communication technologies in teaching historical and cultural disciplines. The department has developed more than 20 electronic educational resources and massive open online courses that are successfully used in the teaching process. In recent years, the department teachers have taken part in the publication of educational and learning and teaching literature, taking into account the latest achievements of Russian and foreign humanitarian thought, that reflects the current level of scholarly knowledge.

A highly professional teaching staff works at the Department: the total number of teachers is 15, including 4 Doctors of Sciences, 10 Candidates of Sciences, 1 Honorary Worker of Higher Vocational Education of the Russian Federation.

In 2022, Head of the Department Marina I. Smirnova was awarded the medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation "For the contribution to the implementation of state policy in education". ​
