Solemn academic colloquium and the presentation of the diplomas of Ilmenau University of Technology at MPEI

Since the 23rd of October to the 28th of October the delegation from Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany) visited National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute”. There is a program of additional training in the German language at Institute of Remote and Additional Education "The German Engineering Faculty MPEI —Ilmenau University of Technology ". During the visit, representatives of the Ilmenau University of Technology as part of the German side the project manager Professor Hannes Töpfer and coordinators Mr. Klaus-Dieter Fritz and Ms. Gudrun Matthies participated in a number of meetings and held talks with representatives of MPEI on the further development of cooperation.

On the 27th of October, 2016 a solemn academic colloquium and the presentation of Ilmenau University of Technology diplomas (Germany) took place at the conference hall of the building "C" National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute”. The graduates of MPEI received diplomas of foreign university of international standard.

The program "The German Engineering Faculty MPEI —Ilmenau University of Technology " is implemented at MPEI together with Ilmenau University of Technology with active support of the German Academic Exchanges Service DAAD, Siemens company and other organizations since 1998.

Participants of the colloquium were greeted by MPEI Vice-Rector on international relations Vladimir Zamolodchikov and Head of the program at MPEI Igor Zhelbakov. Also the event was attended by Ms. Yvonne Klomke and Ms. Zenta Dryukov,the speakers-representatives of the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service.

This year professor Hannes Töpfer has handed the diplomas of Ilmenau University of Technology to the graduates of MPEI. The professor takes an active part in researches in the field of practical and theoretical computer science. Also he is a Head of Department of Theoretical electrical engineering at Ilmenau University of Technology. Since 2003 to 2016, about one hundred former MPEI students have received documents on the graduation from the German University. This year there are five students who completed an academic degree successfully: Galochkin Konstantin, Drozdova Evgenia, Goncharova Yulia, Kolesnikova Ksenia and Shuvarikova Ksenia.

To gain a final qualification certificate (The diploma) of Ilmenau University of Technology, students of MPEI should fully implement the curriculum of MPEI and, besides, they should completely pass the German part of the program (work practice in Germany during 20 weeks, to take complex examination in a number of disciplines of the curriculum at Ilmenau, to write in German and successfully defend a thesis project).

Graduates of the program gain experience of practical work in the international companies, communication in multilanguage space as practically for all of them German is the second foreign language. All these qualities considerably expand alumni possibilities not only in the job market in Moscow, but also in Europe.

The extra recruiting of students for training in German is currently completed.8 groups have started  their classes of German Language. Classes in the senior level groups of German are given by the DAAD lecturer Mrs. Yvonne Klomke. One of the forms of education within the framework of the program are lectures in German language on technical subjects of Ilmenau University of Technology, conducted by German teachers in Moscow. All students can take part in this lectures and in case of successful passing of the test to receive appropriate certificates. This year there were given lectures on the following objects: "Power electronics" (Dr. Jürgen Büttner), "Modern issues of power engineering" (Dr. Carsten Loy) and "Bases of theoretical electrical engineering" (Dr. Silvia Broynig). For all the time more than 800 MPEI students of the different specialties took part in this program. Now there are 8 students who are training in Germany.

In the next 2017 there will be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of agreement signature about the cooperation between Ilmenau University of Technology and MPEI, the 20th anniversary of the joint program of training in German and the 10th anniversary of "The German Engineering Faculty MPEI —Ilmenau". Regular class reunion will be also dated for these events. It will take place in Ilmenau from the 20th of March to the 24th of March.
